Smoky Quartz ranges in clarity from almost complete transparency to an almost-opaque brownish-gray or black crystal. The color of smoky quartz is produced when natural radiation is emitted from the surrounding rock activating color centers around aluminum within the crystal quartz. 

Smoky quartz signifies stability and grounding and is known as a master of all grounding stones.
